The national team of the Ivory Coast has progressed to the next round of the Africa Cup, following a 2-1 win over Libya. PSV striker Arouna Koné was given a place in the starting line up for the second group A match. Arouna KonéKoné was included in the starting XI, unlike in the first game (against Morocco). The 22-year-old forward played a major part in the opening goal, as he picked out Chelsea strike partner Didier Drogba, Libya, though, were not impressed and staged a brave comeback, which resulted in the equalizer on the verge of half time. Arouna Koné had wasted a golden opportunity earlier in the first period to double the advantage, when he headed over a perfect Drogba cross. The Ivory Coast survived some scary moments after the interval, but when Bonaventure Kalou was brought on, the game was turned upside down. At first the Libyan goalkeeper pulled off a fine save from a deviated effort, but Yaya Toure superbly headed home the rebound; 1-2. Ten minutes from final time Arouna Koné was taken off and his namesake Bakari Koné left the bench to replace him. The Ivory Coast will now meet hosts Egypt next Saturday for the final group game.
