Pedro Salazar-Hewitt will be added the staff of the Australian national team during the World Cup 2006 in Germany. The PSV Manager Press & Communication will primarily focus on the media affairs, concerning the team. Guus Hiddink, coach of the Socceroos at the World Cup, approached Salazar-Hewitt recently. He filled a similar post at the Euro 2004 in Portugal for Dick Advocaat, the then coach of the Dutch national team. The past few days there were talks with officials of the Australian Football Association, during which the agreements were confirmed. The official kick-off of the World Cup will take place in Melbourne on 20 May next. The Australian squad had a training camp in Mierlo, in the county of Brabant in Holland, the past few days. Australia will play a friendly against the Netherlands on 4 June. Salazar will be involved in the preparations for the World Cup as from mid-May.
