The UEFA Cup final in the PSV stadium on Wednesday 10 May is set to be an international major event. Nearly three thousand happy football fans were informed by email today that they have been allotted one or two tickets for the final. The lucky winners are from as many as 61 countries from all over the world. People in countries like Kuwait, Panama, Guatemala and Guadeloupe, The United States of America, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Brazil, Seychelles, Nigeria and South Korea have received positive news today. As many as 6, 089 fans showed an interest and ordered 11, 814 tickets on internet. 5, 911 tickets were available for those fans that filled out the uefa.com form between 20 February and 20 March. The majority of the people that placed an order were from Holland (28 %). 27% of the filled out forms were filled by Germans, 20% by English people, 5% by Spaniards and 3% by Belgians.The tickets have been allotted as follows: 1, 996 tickets stay in the Netherlands. 1, 054 tickets have been allotted to Germans and English fans received 1, 005 tickets. 1716 tickets have been allotted to people from other European countries, and 140 tickets have been sent to fans outside Europe. 2, 449 applicants have been informed today they are on a waiting list. The moment it appears that the teams that have reached the finals will not take all available tickets, the people on the waiting list will qualify for tickets after all. 373 fans from the Eindhoven area showed an interest in purchasing a ticket. And quite a few fans from Middlesbrough, Gelsenkirchen, Seville and Bucharest, so from teams that are still competing, also applied for tickets. The PSV stadium can accommodate 31, 000 people on 10 May. Officials of Schalke '04, Seville, FC Basel and Middlesbrough have already indicated they want to take the maximum amount of tickets, if their clubs reach the UEFA Cup Final.
