Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez knows Liverpool are in a good position to book a place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, following a 3-0 win over PSV in the first quarter-final leg, but has warned his players against complacency. “We know by experience a team can come back into the game, even when they are trailing 3-0”, the Spaniard said, obviously referring to the final in 2005, when Liverpool F.C. were 3-0 down to AC Milan at half time, but staged an incredible comeback to level at 3-3 in normal time.
Benítez, manager of The Reds, who conducted the traditional press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s quarter final return leg at Anfield, said Liverpool are fully focused. PSV will inspect the pitch in the famous stadium and train for about one hour. “We need to be careful. It’s a massive game for us”, said Benitez. ”If the players do no approach the game in the right spirit, we may concede an early goal. They will then push forward and we could have problems.” His advice to his team is quite clear. “We shouldn’t settle for a draw, but go for a win.”
