PSV and AZ are joint winners of the Fair Play Trophy for the 2006-2007 season. PSV as well as AZ have done the most to entertain the public with a positive approach to the game and shown most sportsmanlike behaviour of all 38 professional football organisations in the Netherlands. Both clubs received an average of 8, 12 points from their 34 league games.
Feyenoord won the Fair Play Trophy last season, with AZ ending runners-up and PSV finishing third. Nationale-Nederlanden, one of the KNVB’s main sponsors, will present a cheque for 7, 500 euro, to be used for a social and preventive project.
The Fair Play rankings are based on, among other issues, the positive approach to the game, the players’ attitude towards referees and the crowd’s behaviour.
