PSV MEDIA - 30-year-old Tommie van der Leegte put pen to paper on a two-year-deal with PSV on Wednesday morning at De Herdgang sports complex, in the presence of his agent Kees Ploegsma and PSV technical manager Stan Valckx. “It's great to be back”, he said, after signing his new contract.
Since 1988
It had been known for some time that the midfielder, who was born and raised in Eindhoven, would rejoin the club where he started his career as a youth player, and Van der Leegte has now put his signature on all official documents. “I had always hoped this would happen. It is just great to return to Eindhoven”, said the midfielder, who will play in red-white colours the next two seasons. He joined PSV in the 1988-1989 season and made his debut as a professional football player during the 1994-1995 campaign. He had spells at RKC Waalwijk, FC Twente, at RKC Waalwijk again and ADO Den Haag, before he made a move to VfL Wolfsburg two seasons ago. The former youth international, who was born on 27 March 1977, will return to Eindhoven, where he still owns a house. He will report for duty at De Herdgang on 9 July, when PSV start the pre-season training programme.
