PSV are getting ready for the trip home the day after they pulled off a great result against Real Madrid. A training session was originally scheduled for Monday morning, but the coaching staff has decided to cancel that session. The PSV party will fly home, obviously taking the Russian Railways Cup with them.
Last night the players had a glass of champaign at the players' hotel to celebrate the Russian Railways Cup victory. Coaching staff, players and officials talked things over and this morning they had a lie-in, ahead of another tough day of travelling: a 90-minute trip by bus to the airport, custom formalities, a three-hour flight to Brussels Airport and a trip by bus back to Eindhoven, where they are due to arrive at 20:00. The players will have the day-off tomorrow.
The Dutch press lavished praises on PSV after their win over Real Madrid. 'An impressive PSV display in Moscow' and 'PSV ready to take centre-stage in the Eredivisie after a successful dress rehearsal' are the headlines in some national morning papers.
Ismail Aissati's superb opening goal in PSV's 2-1 win over the Spanish champions did not go unnoticed. “Ismail Aissati rifled in a thunderbolt of a 30-yard shot that gave goalkeeper Dudek absolutely no chance.”
The impact of PSV's achievements has been great all over the world, but in Spain and South America in particular. The trip to Moscow during the pre-season campaign has been successful, both from a sportive, financial and PR point of view.
