Sef Vergoossen, who will join PSV as caretaker coach from the Japanese club Nagoya Grampus Eight in January, returned to Europe on Sunday. The 60-year-old coach arrived at Düsseldorf Airport at about 6pm. Vergoossen told PSV.TV on arrival that he cannot wait to take charge at PSV. 'Fortunately I have some time left to have a good look around here, before I formally take charge.'
A PSV TV crew was at Düsseldorf Airport to welcome Vergoossen, who had flown from Nagoya in Japan and was on his way to his way to go home, and ask him a few questions. Vergoosen admitted that people in Japan had laughed their heads off when they were informed why the top clash Ajax v PSV had been put cancelled and showed his delight with the contract extensions that Gomes and some other key players had signed recently. 'It's good for Dutch football in general and for PSV in particular that first-team regulars the likes of Gomes, Afellay, Simons and Salcido have committed their future to PSV. The club is on the right track and clearly wants to signal their ambitions', concluded Sef Vergoossen.
