Young PSV ended the 2007/08 season on a high note with a 3-2 victory against Young Vitesse on Monday night. Junior player Abdenasser el Khayati scored the winning goal for Anton Janssen's team in the closing stages.
Jelle Schijvenaars scored the opening goal for the hosts, who welcomed back keeper Ferhat Kaya and Rob van Boekel into their team. PSV extended their lead when a Vitesse defender scored an unfortunate own goal. The visitors from Arnhem staged a brave comeback and leveled the score. Five minutes from time, substitute El Khayati, who made his debut for Young PSV, scored the winning goal. 16-year-old Maikel Verkoelen was also given his first taste of league action.
The Young PSV squad leave for Hong Kong today to take part in the international Soccer 7s-tournament. Young PSV captain Rens van Eijden has been called up to the squad of the Dutch youth team that participates in the Toulon International Tournament 2008 held in France on May 20-29.
