PSV will play host to FC Groningen at the Philips Stadium on Saturday, with a 7.30pm kick off. At the weekly press briefing PSV coach Huub Stevens told the media that Saturday's opponents are a good and compact team. He added that Nordin Amrabat is doubtful for Saturday's match.
Nordin Amrabat
Amrabat played one half on Young PSV's 4-0 win over Feyenoord on Thursday afternoon. The forward is match fit after having recovered from a groin injury and capped a fine performance with a double. Stevens, however, remains wary and does not know yet if he will include Amrabat in his squad to face FC Groningen. 'We'll have to wait and see how he gets through training today. We wanted him to get match practice for about thirty minutes yesterday. He played 45 minutes in wintry conditions, so we'd better be careful.'
Stef Nijland and FC Groningen
Stevens told media representatives that PSV need a good result on Saturday. Jan Kromkamp will miss the match for PSV, and Ibrahim Afellay is doubtful. It will be a special game for Stef Nijland, who was born and raised in Groningen. 'Stef has got great skills and he has the abilities to develop into a quality player. He needs to gain experience and must become physically stronger. He is still young and is eager to make progress. If he carries on like this, he will add value to the team.' Stevens thinks that Saturday's opponents are a good and compact team with balance in all departments. 'They are attack-minded and well-organised.'
