Danny Koevermans admitted that PSV's chances of booking a place in the UEFA Cup competition are slim, but added that the players have been instructed to go for it and treat the crowd to an entertaining game of football. He is prepared to take a risk and come off the bench, depending on the score in the other Group D game.
'A slim chance'
Koevermans, who is shaking off a calf problem, has joined his team mates at the training camp in Oisterwijk to prepare for the UEFA Champions League final Group D game on Tuesday night. Koevermans has been named in Huub Stevens's 19-man squad, although he is not completely fit. PSV's leading scorer said he is willing to take a risk and come off the bench to be brought on as a substitute, depending on the score in the other group match. 'When Olympique Marseille are trailing and we have not yet taken the lead, I may come on as a substitute. I think it's worth the risk', explained Koevermans. 'But we realise we'll face a tall task. We are dependent on what happens in Marseille. Suppose we would beat Liverpool 6-0, our European dreams would still be shattered if Olympique record a win. We are determined to make the best of this opportunity and entertain the fans.' Liverpool may make several changes to their starting line-up, but it does not make any difference for Koevermans. 'Liverpool have a 40-man squad to select from. They are all quality players, so it doesn't make much difference who they field.'
