Mike Zonneveld remains sidelined and some other first-team players, including Ibrahim Afellay and Nordin Amrabat, are doubtful for Sunday's trip to Vitesse. PSV coach Huub Stevens announced at the weekly press briefing that his team are keen to earn maximum points from the three remaining games in 2008.
'Focus on the domestic campaign'
'Having been eliminated from the KNVB Cup and the Champions League, we will now be able to focus attention on the domestic campaign. We still have three games left before the winter break sets in and we will try to earn maximum points, starting on Sunday', said Huub Stevens during the weekly press briefing at De Herdgang. Mike Zonneveld remains sidelined and some other first-team players, Afellay, Amrabat, Nijland and Kromkamp, are doubtful for Sunday's trip to Vitesse, 'We will also train on Saturday and then we will be in a position to see who will be called and who will be dropped from the squad.' Huub Stevens thinks that Vitesse have their own problems. 'They're building a new team and will do their utmost to get a good result. Vitesse may be in a low position in the Eredivisie, but we are wary of the threat they pose and won't be taking anything for granted at the Gelredome on Sunday. Yet we are expected to take home the three points.'
Nijland, Amrabat, Afellay
Nijland is doubtful for Sunday after he picked up a knock to his hip on Thursday and was unable to train on Friday. 'We'll have to wait and see. He will face a fitness test on Saturday. And the same goes for Amrabat who suffers a recurrence of the groin problem which has kept him out of action for some time. It was risky to bring him on as a substitute and we hope he'll have recovered by Sunday.' Ibrahim Afellay resumed full training only on Friday and Stevens thought that the midfielder was a bit cautious when challenged. Reimond Manco is ruled out of Sunday's game, after he flew to Peru for personal and private reasons.
